The Riverton Aquatic Center will be offering summer swimming lessons starting June 17, 2019. Below is a list of the sessions and dates to get registered. Register during open pool hours – no phone registrations will be taken and payment must be made in full at time of registration.

Swimming Lessons
Registration starts June 10 for All Sessions  |  Cost: $35
Morning lessons are 9am, 10am and 11am.  
Evening lessons will be at 5pm.

Session 1: June 17-June 27; Mon-Thurs
Session 2: July 8-July 18; Mon-Thurs
Session 3: July 29-Aug. 8; Mon-Thurs  
Private Lessons: June 10-Aug. 17

Lap Swim: Monday-Friday 5:15a-9a; 12p-1p
Open Swim: Monday-Friday 2-4pm & 6-8pm; Saturday & Sunday 11am-3pm

 

Riverton Swim Club

The Riverton Swim Club is a competitive USA swim team and is accepting swimmers for the summer session, June 10-July 18. It is open to all swimmers ages 5 and up who meet the minimum requirements. Practice times are Mon-Thurs from 7:30-9am at the Riverton Aquatic Center. Check out our Learn to Swim pre-competitive program for kids ages 5-8, June 10 - July 18. Hot Notes, Cool Nites

Hot Notes, Cool Nites is a summer concert series in the Lander and Riverton City Parks. The concerts feature music from our local CWC Community Band and performances by Wyoming professional artists. The Band performs programs from a variety of musical genres including classical band works, marches, show tunes, and movie music. Guest Artists in 2019 include The Songteller, WyoJazz, Lights Along the Shore, String Theory, Packin’ the Mail, and Prairie Wildfire. All band musicians, regardless of age, are invited to participate in the CWC Community Band. The Band rehearses at 5:30pm the evening of the concert. Concerts are free and begin at 7pm. Riverton will host the concerts at the City Park band shell on June 24, July 8 and 22. Lander’s City Park will be the concert host on July 1, 15 and 29.

 

Movie Matinées

‘R’ Recreation will be selling the summer movie matinée tickets for Barry Cinemas. The cost is $15 for 10 movies and they will be shown at the GEM theater. Movie times are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11am, 11:15am, 1:15pm and 1:30pm. The $15 ticket packet can be purchased at the ‘R’ Recreation office. Ages 2 and under are free if they sit in your lap. The 2019 Summer Movie Matinées are subject to change. (See movie listings below.)

 

Riverton Little League Fireworks

Don’t miss one of Riverton’s finest fireworks shows on Thursday, June 27th that celebrates the conclusion of the Riverton Little League season. The fireworks show will be at dusk in conjunction with the Championship games and closing ceremonies. Fireworks will be launched near the intersection of Park Avenue and Smith Road.

 

Riverton Raiders Legion Baseball

Want to catch some exciting baseball games this summer?  Then why not attend one of Riverton’s Legion Baseball home games and support our high school aged team. Their field is located off of Day Drive (north of CWC just look for the lights). Like Riverton Raiders Baseball on Facebook.

Fremont Area Road Tour

Join us for our 10th annual road bike tour on Saturday, June 8. This event showcases the Lander cycling experience and offers a unique adventure for the whole family. Come early and hang around after for Lander’s very own Brewfest. Route start at 7:30am at City Park and end at 2:00pm. Aid Stations are located on all routes and riders are welcome to return to City Park for aid station services anytime during the ride. The distance of the races ranges from 15 miles to a metric century. Registration fee is $55 which includes custom t-shirt, breakfast, lunch, swag bag, access to SAG vehicle, and Aid Stations.  For more information and to register go to fremontarearoadtour.com.

 

Challenge for Charities Races

(Register online at www.landercommunityfoundation.org) The Lander Community Foundation sponsors the annual Challenge for Charities, a community-wide fundraiser that culminates in the Lander Half Marathon, 5K and Kids
1-mile Mad Dash. The event will include entertainment, breakfast, swag, and will be followed by Lander’s famous July 4th Parade at 10am. Register before June 25 as prices increase June 26 (for Half Marathon $50, and 5K $35).

Time:  6am - Half Marathon Race (Cost $45)
7am - 5K (Cost $30)
8am - Half Marathon and 5K Awards
8:30am - 1 Mile Kids’ Mad Dash (Cost $15)

Summer Reading Programming

Fun+Books=A Universe of Stories

The Library’s Summer Reading Program is for toddlers up to 18 year olds, which runs from June 1 through July 31. Registration begins Saturday, June 1 at the Riverton Branch Library. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and fills up fast. Thank you to the Riverton Friends of the Library, and the Fremont County School District #25 Recreation Board for their generous support of our program.

Children’s Summer Reading Program
During registration, kids will receive a book bag, sticker, and bookmark. Kids are asked to read (or be read to) any library book of their choice. Record every 20 minutes they read on the provided reading log. Turn in completed logs and each child will receive an invitation to a special evening event. A calendar listing dates and times of events (weekly program and special events) will be available at registration.

Teen Summer Reading Program
During registration, teens will receive a snack and an excellent prize. Teens will be asked to read any Teen or Adult library book. Pick up a Bingo Card from the Teen Scene and be entered to win fresh prizes (like Funko Pops or VIP pass to ReBeL Con). Each day you check a book out you will receive one scratch ticket for an instant win.

Safe Kids Fair

We are partnering with Public Health and Injury Prevention to host this fun event which will include several activities for the family and kids of all ages. To include obstacle courses, Bike Safety station, First Responders (such as Riverton Police Department, Riverton Volunteer Fire Department, and more), and food.

Music on the Lawn Series

Invite your family and friends to join you for an evening of great entertainment. Don’t forget to bring your blanket/chair. Live music, with a different band performing each week. Ranging from rock and roll to country music. Last year we had The Woodpile, Lost Springs Band, and the Low Water String Band.

Chalk the Walk

ReBeL Con

Join us for Riverton Branch Library’s very first Pop-Culture Convention! ReBeL Con will celebrate comics, gaming, sci-fi, cult classics, and more. Fandom, cosplay or not, this is the event to attend. We will end the day by inviting attendees to walk down to the Twilight Parade as a group, which starts at 6pm. $3 with a Riverton Branch Library card and $5 without a card (all proceeds to Friends of the Riverton Branch Library)
