District 25 Recreation Board Grant Requests

The District 25 Recreation Board will be accepting requests for grant funding for the 2020 calendar year on Monday, January 6 at 6 pm at the Fremont County School District 25 Central Office, 121 North 5th Street West. Any group requesting funds must attend the meeting and present their request to the board. Grant applications can be found on the ‘R’ Recreation website

Riverton Aquatic Center - Summer Swimming Lessons

Registration opens: June 8, 2020.
Register during open pool hours. No phone registrations will be taken and payment must be made in full at time of registration.

Session 1: June 15- June 25; Mon-Thurs
Session 2:  July 6 – July 16; Mon-Thurs
Session 3:  July 27-August 6; Mon-Thurs
Private Lessons: June 10-August 17 (Contact a pool representative at 856-4230 for more information)
Morning lessons: 9am, 10am and 11am.
Evening lessons: 5pm
Cost: $35

The Riverton Aquatic Center will be temporarily closed May 24-June 7 for our annual cleaning.

Movie Matinees

Cost: $15 for 10 movies

‘R’ Recreation will sell the summer movie matinee tickets for Barry Cinemas for the 2020 Movie Matinees. A full schedule was not available at press time but will be posted on www. rrecreation.com and on our Facebook page. The cost will be $15 for 10 movies and they will be shown at the GEM Theater. Movie times will likely start in mid-June and be shown on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:00, 11:15, 1:15 and 1:30pm, but are subject to change. The $15 ticket packet will be available for purchase at the ‘R’ Recreation office. Ages 2 and under are free if they sit in your lap. Single movie tickets can be purchased at the GEM Theater prior to the showing.


Riverton Little League Fireworks

Don’t miss one of Riverton’s finest fireworks shows on Thursday, July 2 and celebrate the conclusion of the Riverton Little League season. The fireworks show will be at dusk in conjunction with the Championship games and closing ceremonies. Fireworks will be launched near the intersection of Park Avenue and Smith Road.


Riverton Swim Club

Cost: $75 for the summer session

The Riverton Swim Club is a competitive USA swim team and is accepting swimmers for the summer session, June 8-July 16. It is open to all swimmers ages 5 and up who meet the minimum requirements. Practice times are Mon-Thurs from 7:30-9am at the Riverton Aquatic Center.

Summer Reading Program

Imagine Your Story

Imagine Your Story The Library’s Summer Reading Program is for toddlers up to 18-year old’s, and it runs from Wednesday June 3-July 31. Registration begins Wednesday June 3 at the Riverton Branch Library.

Children's Summer Reading Program

Children ages toddler through age 12 are asked to read (or be read to) any library book of their choice. Record every 20 minutes of reading on the provided reading log. Turn in completed logs and each child will receive an invitation to ReBel Con in June and a special evening event in July. A calendar listing dates and times of events (weekly program and special events) will be available at registration on Wednesday June 3. The first 200 children to register on this date will receive a book bag and book swag.

Teen Summer Reading Program

Upon registration teens (13-18) will receive a drawstring backpack (first come, first served while supplies last). After registration they will receive a scratch ticket each day that they check out books from the library. Prizes include snacks, Funko Pops, ReBeL Con tickets, and signed books.

Safe Kids Fair

We are partnering with Public Health and Injury Prevention to host this fun event which will include several activities for the family and kids of all ages. To include obstacle courses, Bike Safety station, First Responders (such as Riverton Police Department, Riverton Volunteer Fire Department) and more.

Book Swag

Teens (13-18 years old) can pop on in for a new book and some bonus swag on the first Monday of each month (June 1, July 6, and August 3).  First come, first served while supplies last.

pARTy on the Lawn

Join Aubry and Heidi on the library lawn for a paint party. Learn new techniques or paint according to your own inspiration. Incoming high schoolers only. Registration is required. Events may be indoors, weather depending.

Day in the Park

Join us for the premiere Rendezvous summer festival Day in the Park! Enjoy games, arts and crafts booths, dances, and food vendors as part of the Riverton Rendezvous celebrations! Saturday, July 11, 2020. You will enjoy state and local talent, a showcase of unique gifts and clothing, and local bands.


Rendezvous Games

Registration Deadline: July 10th

Riverton 2nd annual Summer Rendezvous Games will be taking place on Saturday, July 18. Businesses/organizations are challenged to create teams of 4-6 individuals to compete in a variety of events requiring artistic ability, strategic prowess and physical strength. The Summer games are at Riverton City Park and teams will compete for a chance to take home a traveling trophy amongst other prizes! Register by July 10, team spots are limited and fill up quickly! Register at City of Riverton or ‘R’ Recreation.

2020 RHS All Class Reunion

Riverton is small enough that having an ALL Class Reunion/Celebration of Riverton is the perfect fit for our wonderful City. The weekend long celebration will be July 17, 18 and 19 in conjunction with the Riverton Balloon Rally. Hot Notes, Cool Nites

Hot Notes, Cool Nites is a summer concert series in the Lander and Riverton City Parks. The concerts feature performances of the CWC Community Band and professional guest artists. The Band performs programs from a variety of musical genres including classical band works, marches, show tunes, and movie music.

Guest Artists in 2020 include Maria & the Stingers, Lost Springs Band, Lights Along the Shore, Tom Amend Trio, Buffalo Bill Boycott & Dr. Jo, and Prairie Wildfire.

All band musicians, regardless of age, are invited to participate in the CWC Community Band.

The Band rehearses at 5:30 pm. the evening of the concert.

Concerts are free and begin at 7pm.

Riverton will host the concerts at the City Park band shell on July 6, July 20 and August 3.

Lander’s City Park will be the concert host on June 29, July 13, and 27.


Fremont Area Road Tour

Cost: $55

Join us for our 11th annual road bike tour on Saturday, June 13. This event showcases the Lander cycling experience and offers a unique adventure for the whole family. Come early and hang around after for Lander’s very own Brewfest. Route start at 7:30am at City Park and end at 2pm. The distance of the races ranges from 15 miles to a metric century. Registration fee is $55 which includes custom t-shirt, breakfast, lunch, swag bag, access to SAG vehicle, and Aid Stations.
