Mary Axthelm - 'R' Recreation Program Director

Mary has been providing the community with a variety of recreational services through the ‘R’ Recreation since its conception in 2008.  Mary received her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from the University of Wyoming and has worked in a variety of capacities for several community parks and recreation departments prior to making Riverton her home.  Serving the community of Riverton and the challenge to create quality programming has been her passion and goal with ‘R’ Recreation. She strives to work cooperatively with local schools, various local organizations and clubs, Central Wyoming College and the city of Riverton.

Mary and her husband Mike, who is a Riverton native, have lived in Riverton for twenty one years. 


Jamie Nelson - 'R' Recreation Activities Coordinator

Jamie Nelson is in her first year as the Recreation Activities Coordinator within the ‘R’ Recreation Office on the Central Wyoming College campus.

Hired in December 2016, Nelson brings a wide variety of experience in a recreational environment to the City of Riverton. Prior to coming to Riverton, she served as Minot State University’s Athletic Business Analyst and Camps Coordinator for 4 years.

Nelson earned her Bachelors Degree in Electronic Publishing from Saint Mary's University in 2005. She then followed up with earning her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership-Sports Management from Winona State University in 2008.

Nelson is a native of Rollingstone, Minn. She and her husband Jack, Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Central Wyoming College, reside in Riverton with their two children, Raelynn and Kai.


Mandy Bailey - 'R' Recreation Community Education Coordinator

Mandy Bailey has been with Central Wyoming College for four years, and has taken over the Community Education Program this past year. She attended school in Riverton and left for a number of years before returning to work at CWC. She also instructs and coordinates the University Studies program and is an advisor for Student Senate and Sigma Alpha Pi.

Mandy earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College and her Masters Degree in Education Administration, Management, and Leadership from Walden University.

Mandy has five children and spends her free time watching them in their various sports and activities.
